UNF STUDENT ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE
AN UNPARALLELED EXPERIENCE FOR UNF ART STUDENTS
The University of North Florida Student Artist-in-Residence is a highly competitive opportunity that awards access to a MOCA Jacksonville studio and exhibition space to complete a new body of work and hone skills over the course of a final semester.
The Student-in-Residence has access to a private onsite studio (ten hours per week a minimum required) and the opportunity to work with museum professionals and participate in visitor and public engagement programs. The Student-in-Residence receives a downtown parking pass for the semester and a Family Level MOCA Membership for one year.
The Residency culminates in an exhibition at MOCA to showcase and celebrate the student’s work in the fifth-floor Education Gallery.
This opportunity is exclusive to UNF students! The candidate must be in their final year at UNF during the residency. All visual arts majors welcome!

FOR MOCA'S FALL 2024 UNF STUDENT ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE
The fall residency takes place August through December 2024 at MOCA Jacksonville, and the student's exhibition will be showcased in the spring of 2025 (opening in January with exact dates TBD). The selected student will be announced soon.
ARTISTS
ELYSA ADAMS
Elysa Adams is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Jacksonville. She is majoring in Printmaking, Painting, and Drawing, with a minor in Psychology. Her artistic expression takes a dual approach, revealing hardship while celebrating resilience and excellence that thrive within the black community. Through the mediums of printmaking, painting, video, and installation, Elysa passionately engages in vital conversations, creating art that is not only visually striking but also thought-provoking as she seeks to bring these essential narratives to the forefront of the artistic discourse. For her residency, Elysa proposes working on a body of work in different media based on her community in the historic neighborhood of Moncrief, in northwest Jacksonville.
