VOLUNTEER

DONATE YOUR TIME TO MOCA JACKSONVILLE

Volunteering at MOCA Jacksonville is rewarding and fun! You will learn about the work that goes on behind the scenes at the museum and how you can be a part of it. You could welcome guests at special events, assist visitors with art activities, share information about exhibitions and programs, promote the benefits of membership, spread the word about museum events, and much more.

MOCA volunteers are advocates in our community for the arts. Applicants must enjoy working with people of diverse interests, backgrounds, and ages. People who have an interest in community service, the arts, and visitor interaction are welcome. More detailed responsibilities are listed for each opportunity. Accommodations can be made upon request to increase the accessibility volunteer roles.

For more information, questions, or to register as a MOCA Volunteer, please reach out to the Volunteer team at mocamembership@unf.edu.

 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

EXPANDING MOCA’S REACH BEYOND THE MUSEUM WALLS

Help our team reach as many parts of the community as possible! MOCA regularly participates in outreach events around town as an avenue to reach more people with our mission. Outreach opportunities bring us beyond the museum's walls and across Jacksonville to places such as libraries, the zoo, parks, and more. Volunteer duties include setting up and breaking down information tables, promoting MOCA events and membership, and assisting guests with art-making activities. These opportunities may require long bouts of standing, lifting up to 30 pounds, and exposure to various weather conditions.

By adding this weekly free access program, MOCA is significantly increasing the opportunities for visitors to engage. AUTISM CREATES

Autism Creates is an educational initiative designed for children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other exceptionalities. While children with ASD often struggle with verbal communication, social relations, and sensory development, research shows that creative art-making activities enable them to foster new means of self-expression and communication. Volunteer duties include prepping art supplies, engaging with students, providing project assistance to students, and helping monitor students to promote a safe and effective environment. Preference may be given to volunteers who have experience working with kids with autism spectrum disorders. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
