Centennial Gala

A Walk on the Wild Side

April 6, 2024

Thank you to all those who attended our Centennial Gala: A Walk on the Wild Side! This event was made truly amazing by the creative energy, amazing fashion, and celebratory spirit every one of you had on display that evening! This SOLD OUT fundraising event raised more than $300k in support of MOCA's mission to promote the discovery, knowledge, and advancement of the art, artists, and ideas of our time. We are so thankful for our community of generous supporters who have empowered the museum to continue to present groundbreaking exhibitions, public program, and educational initiatives that engage the community and elevate Jacksonville as a regional destination for arts and culture.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville invites you to celebrate the museum's 100th Anniversary with our Centennial Gala; a New York in the ‘70s-themed bash inspired by our featured exhibition, A Walk on the Wild Side. Get out your boogie shoes for an extraordinary evening that brings together art, music, dancing, and spectacle with artful moments and delicious displays of food and beverages.

Celebrating a century of creativity and community, funds raised at MOCA's Centennial Gala will enable the museum to present groundbreaking exhibitions, public programs, and educational initiatives that engage the community and elevate Jacksonville as a regional destination for arts and culture. Join us as we celebrate MOCA's legacy and imagine the future that we want for our great city.

A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE

'70S NEW YORK IN THE NORMAN FISHER COLLECTION AT MOCA

December 2023 - June 2024

Jacksonville native Norman Fisher was a social phenomenon, almost a work of art himself. He brought together visual artists, poets, performers, and writers in his living room on West Twelfth Street in Manhattan, ultimately amassing a collection of hundreds of works by many of the artists active in the city at the time, to whom he gave friendship and support. This exhibition maps an extraordinarily vibrant period in late 20th-century American culture when an informal, yet singular, group of artists collided in Manhattan and sparked a collective energy that was to drive intense experimentation across the arts. Learn More >>
