EDUCATION INTERNSHIP
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Education Department of MOCA Jacksonville seeks enthusiastic and engaging students to assist across a number of student, public, and university facing programs. Internship roles and responsibilities coincide with the UNF semester calendar and reflect the programmatic priorities of the museum and department. As such, intern responsibilities will vary and can include the following: office work, tour support, outreach into the community, mentoring students, and representing the museum to a wide variety of audiences.
Summer Semester (May through July): Summer Camp support
- MOCA Jacksonville offers themed weekly camp sessions for ages 6-14 throughout the Summer. Summer Camp @ MOCA also features weekly movement activities, such as yoga and dance.
- Student interns support the museum’s Summer Camp program by assisting classroom instructors, supervising students during break times, preparing classroom materials, leading gallery activities, and giving support to the Camp Director.

Fall Semester (August through November): School Tours support
- MOCA offers a variety of program opportunities for schools, including in-person and virtual school tours, in-classroom resources, and engagement opportunities that support literacy, critical thinking, and communication skills.
- Student interns prepare tour materials and spaces, including workshop set-up and clean up, organizing and prepping art supplies for students, co-leading school tours, and supporting tour leads. Additional responsibilities include classroom and group management and facilitating post-tour surveys with teachers and students.

Spring Semester (January through April): Education program and outreach support
- MOCA Jacksonville offers many additional evening, weekend, and outreach programs such as Teen Art Council, Voice of the People, Autism Creates, Kids Art Lab, MOCA Movie Night, Coffee with a Curator, and more.
- Student interns will support, attend, and represent the museum at a number of on-site and off-site programs throughout the semester.

REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should be pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies in art history, education, arts administration, art education, art therapy, or museum studies. Previous classroom experience is highly recommended. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with students of all ages.
COMPENSATION
TIME COMMITMENT
This position requires a minimum of ten hours per week.
NUMBER OF INTERNS
Multiple concurrent internships are available within the department.
