ART AVIATORS EXHIBITION

APRIL 4, 2015 - AUGUST 16, 2015

Celebrate the artistic accomplishments of MOCA Jacksonville's educational outreach program during National Autism Awareness Month. While children with Autism Spectrum Disorders or other varying exceptionalities struggle with intellectual, communicative, sensory, behavioral, and physical developments, creative art-making activities enable them to foster new means of self-expression and communication. Created in 2007, the program has been nationally recognized by museum associations and health care providers alike. The Museum introduces a new name for the program-Art Aviators-to highlight how students are encouraged to self-navigate and chart their own path through the selection of art projects they undertake. This year's exhibition features artwork from students from Highlands Elementary, Mayport Elementary, Lake Asbury Elementary, Plantation Oaks Elementary, and Jacksonville School for Autism.
