Event Description
Film grab from the movie "Wasteland"
Movies On The House (MOTH) screens films that help
contribute to the important cultural discussions around the art, artists, and
ideas of our time. This summer, MOCA Jacksonville teams up with the
Jacksonville Public Library to offer MOTH presents: Makerspace Movies.
This series features films that support the Main Library art exhibition, Reclaimed:
Life Beyond the Landfill, and includes themes of refusing, reducing,
reusing, and recycling.
Join us for an evening of inspiring film and engaging
discussion. All screenings are free and open to the public.
Wasteland
On the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro is Jardim
Gramacho, the world's largest landfill, where men and women sift through
garbage for a living. This documentary follows artist, Vik Muniz as he travels
to his home country of Brazil to produce portraits of the workers and learn
about their lives.
