Karen Stone is vice president and general counsel for the University of North Florida. She is the University's first in-house counsel, having assumed this position in 1992. Stone previously served as an associate general counsel for the University of Florida and has previous experience in the private practice of business law. She also previously served as corporate counsel for Athletic Attic Marketing, an international franchising company of sporting goods stores. Stone earned her Bachelor of Arts degree, with high honors, from the University of Florida, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She then earned a Master of Arts degree in political science and Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida. She is an active member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys and a past member of NACUA's Board of Directors. Stone is board certified in education law by the Florida Bar.
