Cultural Currents: Veterans and the Arts

November 10, 2017 // by Bill D. Webster

MOCA Jacksonville honors veterans in a unique way this year. We are hosting our Fall Family Day on Veterans Day, November 11. This day of creative activities and family events is free for all families. Throughout our current exhibition, Call & Response, we designate each artist that is a veteran with a blue star.

The MOCA Jacksonville board is honored to have veteran, Chuck Moorer among its ranks. Chuck served as an Army helicopter pilot in Vietnam in the 1970s. He has aided in the governance of the museum since 2013, offering his expertise in financial responsibility and community engagement.

This Veterans Day, all active military and veterans receive $10 off a MOCA Core Membership. As one of the largest contemporary art museums in the Southeast, we are a key player in promoting the right to freedom of expression. Come and support the art, artists and ideas of our time at Fall Family Day or with an annual membership.
