Artist Statement:

“Abstract brush work and the free following nature of paint form a myriad of symbols.  These symbols are not predetermined but arise communally through the process of action painting.  This creates a strong sense of tension, fluidity, release, and harmony within the work. I plummet into the collective unconscious and through expression create work that is highly personal, yet at the same time allows the viewer the ability to openly interpret the work.  I do not strive to create reality but instead, create a psychological reality.  My work allows the viewer introspective into understanding the basic human need for visual language and the unconscious thought process.  Scale is a key component in my work.  Large scale paintings done in a series format create a strong sense of mood and atmosphere. The viewer becomes encompassed within my work and can then begin deciphering the paintings.”[1]
