Joy Poulard Cruz is an interdisciplinary artist from Washington, D.C. working in performance, video, and dance. Cruz graduated from the University of North Florida in 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and earned an MFA in 2019 from Carnegie Mellon University School of Art.
Cruz studied dance at Tulane University and The University of Florida and toured as a company dancer with The Mod Project and members of Urban Bush Women. Cruz has performed at the Kennedy Center, the Andy Warhol Museum, and Merce Cunningham Studios in NYC.
She has received numerous awards including the Frank Ratcheye Studio Fund for Art, the Corrigan Travel Fellowship, and the inaugural SPARK Grant Award, among others. Joy currently lives in Pittsburgh, PA where she received her MFA in Studio Art from Carnegie Mellon in May of 2019.[1]
