MOCA Jacksonville is excited to offer a new and engaging way for groups to tour the Museum from a distance! Guided virtual tour experiences are available for classes and groups of students.  All virtual tours are led by a Museum Educator and follows grade-level appropriate curriculum.

PRIVATE GROUP VIRTUAL TOURS

Private group virtual tours are available Tuesday & Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Reservations require at least 2 weeks advance notice. Virtual tours are conducted live through Zoom using MOCA’s new 360 Virtual Tour Platform. All tours are led by MOCA staff and will include all exhibition spaces unless otherwise requested.

GROUP RATES

Up to 20 attendees / $5 per individual

Up to 50 attendees / $200 per tour

More than 50 attendees / $300 per tour

Self-Guided Virtual Tour  

  • Explore MOCA Jacksonville’s current exhibitions at your own pace with our new 360° Virtual Tour Platform  

  • Access through these links at any time {include tour links or link to page where they are located on our website} 

Guided Virtual Tour  

  • Available Tuesday – Friday with reservations booked at least 2 weeks in advance  

  • Tour Length: 60 minutes  

  • Tour Costs:  
    *Up to 25 students / $50  
    *Up to 50 students / $100  
  • Guided virtual tours are offered at no cost to all DCPS Title I school groups with advanced registration  

  • Groups of more than 50 students must be split into separate tour times  

  • Your guided virtual tour includes:  

    *Access to pre- and post-tour curriculum online, including recommended readings, suggested activities, and curriculum standards to enhance your students’ Museum experience  

    *Virtual tour of select galleries led by a Museum Educator in our 360° Virtual Tour Platform 

    *Gallery Guidebook for each student to use during live guided tour

    Virtual Tour Add On // Live Art Lesson with Student Art Kits  

    Art Lesson

    Live Art Lesson with MOCA Educator is included with purchase of at least 10 Art Kits  

    • Length: 45 minutes  
    • Available Tuesday – Friday with reservations booked at least 2 weeks in advance   

    Your Live Art Lesson includes:  

    • Video call with MOCA Educator to deliver guided instructions for art activity  

    • Access to more online art lessons that utilize Art Kit materials  

    Art Kit:  $10 per student 

    Art Kit includes general art supplies for students to use on their own plus all necessary supplies for the Live Art Lesson 

    • Each Art Kit includes:  
      • *80 lb drawing paper 
      • Set of oil pastels 
      • Set of washable markers  
      • Watercolor set with small paintbrush  
      • Large paint brushbag of embellishments (wood craft sticks, feathers, gems, buttons)  
      • Bottle of glue  
      • Construction paper in various colors  
      • Aluminum foil  

TOUR THEMES  

Lower Elementary (K – 2nd Grade) // Color, Shape, and Texture  

  • Explore elements of art in the galleries, identifying color, shape, and texture in displayed works and participate in engaging discussion to enhance the experience and understanding of contemporary art. 

  • Tour and Live Art Lesson will focus on works from MOCA’s Permanent Collection exhibition Recent Acquisitions: History in the Making  

Upper Elementary (3rd – 5th Grade) // STEAM  

  • Investigate how artists incorporate scientific methods and mathematical principles into their creative processes to produce one of a kind artworks. 

  • Tour and Live Art Lesson will focus on works from MOCA’s Permanent Collection exhibition Recent Acquisitions: History in the Making  

Middle School (6th – 8th Grade) // New Styles  

  • Experience different contemporary art movements and discover important concepts and influences that generate new mediums and artistic processes. 

  • Tour and Live Art Lesson will focus on works from MOCA’s Featured Exhibition Breaking Boundaries: The Vision of Jacqueline B. Holmes  

High School (9th - 12th Grade) // Contemporary Art & Ideas  

  • Discover new art that encourages self-exploration and offers commentary on current events, ideas, and movements.  

  • Tour and Live Art Lesson will focus on works from MOCA’s Project Atrium: Rina Banerjee and UNF Gallery Exhibition Multiple Ones: Contemporary Perspectives in Printmedia

Kiersten Barnes

J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Educator for Family and Children’s Programs

Kiersten Barnes graduated in 2014 from the University of Florida where she received her bachelor's degree in art history. Prior to working at MOCA Jacksonville, she served as the learning and engagement assistant at the Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she developed and facilitated educational programs for children and families. Barnes moved back to Florida and began working at MOCA in 2015 as the outreach coordinator. She coordinates and supervises MOCA's winter, spring, and summer Art Camp. Barnes also serves as a Museum educator for family and children's programming.
