Paper Craft

Would you like to make a work of art inspired by Carly Glovinski, an artist featured in our exhibition Recent Acquisitions: History in the Making? Grab some supplies and follow along!

For this project, you will need:

  • Two pieces of white paper (8.5 x 11 or 9 x 12)
  • One ruler
  • Pencils
  • Scissors
  • Colored pencils, markers, or crayons
  • Glue or tape

 

Step 1: Grab two pieces of white paper.

Step 2: Fold one piece of paper in half (hamburger-fold).

Step 3: The folded crease should now be the bottom of your paper. Draw lines one inch apart from the fold on the bottom towards the top of your paper, leaving about a one inch margin at the top.

 Step 4: Carefully cut along your lines.

Step 6: Now grab your other piece of paper. Cut it into one inch strips.

Step 7: Decorate the paper strips with colored pencils, markers, or crayons.

Step 8: Weave the colorful strips of paper through your loom, following an over-under pattern.

Step 9: Continue until your loom is full! Then, glue or tape the ends of each strip to keep your weaving in place. Decorate your loom with more colors and patterns.
