Event Description

Hofmann Ambush PP Symphony 1 Full
HANS HOFMANN, Ambush, 1944. Oil on paper, 24 x 19 1/8 inches. The Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY, U.S.A, Purchase, 51.1952. With permission of the Renate, Hans & Maria Hofmann Trust / Artists Rights Society (ARS), New York.

In this fusion of visual and musical art inspired by Hans Hofmann: Works on Paper, a concert by the Jacksonville Symphony Chamber Orchestra is accompanied by a projection designed by UNF’s Vanessa Cruz, associate professor of graphic design and digital media, and Sheila Goloborotko, assistant professor of printmaking.

The Symphony explores new avenues on multiple levels: new repertoire, in a new venue, for new audiences, in a fresh and engaging multimedia genre. The intimacy of a chamber orchestra juxtaposed with a visual art space and visual projection create a product that speaks to the audience in ways that are unattainable in a traditional performance hall.

This collaboration of MOCA, UNF, and the Jacksonville Symphony strengthens the bonds in the artistic community and facilitates creative development through the sharing of complementary resources from some of the largest and most dynamic cultural institutions in Jacksonville.

Spend Mother's Day with MOCA and the Jacksonville Symphony. Start with Mother's Day Brunch at NOLA MOCA, then attend one of two performances.
