Take a midday art break

April 13, 2017 // by Keri Barnhart

If work is stressing you out or you need some inspiration, take a midday art break at MOCA Jacksonville.

On April 25-28 and May 2-5, MOCA Jacksonville is offering free admission to anyone who lives or works downtown. If that describes you, then you can visit the Museum between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., sign in at our front desk, and explore the galleries for free.

If you've always wanted to see what's inside the Museum but haven't found your way inside, here's your chance! Or if you haven't visited for awhile, come back to check out the new exhibitions. With two weeks of free admission, it's possible to visit once, twice, or as many as eight times. You don't have to visit every floor during one visit; just browse one gallery, then come back the next day to see more.

Don't miss these galleries

Have you seen Hans Hofmann: Works on Paper yet? The exhibition is only here through May 13. Take an art break between April 25 and May 5 and finally learn what kind of artwork this modern master created in between the more famous paintings, when he was driving across the country in the 1930s or taking a break from teaching other famous artists in the 1950s.

MOCA Jacksonville has more than 1,000 objects in the Permanent Collection, but with limited space they can't be displayed all at once. The galleries of Permanent Collection artwork on the second floor change throughout the year. Take advantage of this offer for downtown residents and employees to see some of the Museum's new acquisitions or to rediscover old favorites.

If you are headed to meetings or running errands at the Jacksonville Main Library, JEA, or City Hall, MOCA Jacksonville is right next door. The Museum entrance is on Laura Street; you can't miss the big white banner on the corner of the building.
